Due to the ever-increasing costs and decreasing durability of the "Clone" engines, the GSKA board has discussed and voted on a final transition plan from the "Clone" engines to Briggs & Stratton engines.

This plan began in 2014 with multiple engine choices in select classes, and will continue into 2015 on the following schedule:

1. 4 Cycle Sportsman and 4 Cycle Junior will continue in 2015 with the option of running a clone or pro gas animal. 2015 will be the final year for the clone, after which the classes will transition to Pro Gas Sportsman and Pro Gas Junior.

2. Due to low participation numbers and class overlap with Comer and LO206 Kid Kart, 2014 will be the final year for Kid Clone.

3. LO206 Senior (Sponsored by Luttrell Racing / Ionic Edge Chassis) will be added as an official GSKA class beginning with Race #5 (5/17/14) with points accumulation beginning with the June 14th night race (8 race championship for 2014). Year end awards for 2014 will be dependent on entry counts, and will require a minimum participation of 5 of 8 events to be eligible for year end awards. Long-term, LO206 Senior will likely be the replacement for Clone Senior Sportsman.

4. The 4 Cycle senior class will remain as-is for the remainder of 2014. In 2015 this "premier" 4 Cycle senior class will transition to WKA Pro Gas Animal.

5. For 2015 there will be a single clone class following the current Clone Sportsman rules (ie big pipe/small pipe option) - 2015 will be the final year for clones.

So, to summarize, the 2014 4-Cycle class ladder will be:

LO206 Kid Kart
Kid Clone
4 Cycle Sportsman
4 Cycle Junior
Clone Senior Sportsman
LO206 Senior (Effective 5/17/14)
4 Cycle Senior

The GSKA 2015 4-Cycle Class Ladder will be:

LO206 Kid Kart
4 Cycle Sportsman (final year for clones)
4 Cycle Junior (final year for clones)
LO206 Senior
Clone Senior (little pipe 340 / big pipe 375) - final year for this class
Pro Gas Animal Senior

This decision was influenced heavily by the increasing majority of regular entries that have already made the transition to Briggs & Stratton engines, and input from the membership that they would like more advance notice of what class rules are going to be for the following competition year. The board understands that, for some, this will be a drastic change that will require investment in new equipment. Ultimately it was decided that a change had to be made and to soften the impact a clear plan with plenty of advance notice would be put in place.
