|This post will outline the general duties of the various board positions. This is not written in stone, and duties may overlap from one board member to another.
Basically the catch-all position. Here are some of the things I have to to before a race:
*Make sure a spread sheet for online entries and PayPal payments are given to Vicki.
*Make sure transponders and radios are charged.
*Have trophies ordered
*Make sure timing computer is set up for race
*Make sure all workers are set for race
*Get fuel for generator
*Make a race day schedule, based on who has entered
*I am sure there is more, but those are the main ones.
For race day:
*Make sure timing, registration, scales and workers are all set.
*Write the days schedule on the white board
*Either find the right person to handle issues coming up or make the decision on those issues. The President usually has the deciding vote in most situations. Kind of a mixture of Priest, Cop and/or Judge.
*Give the driver's meeting speech and give out trophies (the best part of the job!)
*Watch for issues and disagreements at Tech and the scales.
*Watch the racing as much as possible to look for on track issues
*Make sure everything is put away at the end of the day, get the trash cans emptied and that the workers all get paid.
After race day:
*Make sure results are uploaded to Mylaps, that all monies are deposited and all bills are paid.
Probably the most important job of the President is to come up with ways to promote the club and find new racers.
*Basically to support the President and take over for his duties if he cannot make a race.
*To handle all banking, tax and licensing issues. Also is supposed to create minutes during Board meeting.
Various racing directors:
*We have a race director for Two Stroke and Four Stroke as well as for Junior and Senior divisions. They have the most say is rules, classes and disputes for their various positions.
One of the most important duties of these racing directors if to be an advocate of their respective position. They need to do whatever they can to get new racers into their division and try to find new and inventive ways to promote it.
Each Board Member also has a vote on issues as well.
This is just a general listing of Board Member duties. If any of the Board Members (past or present) would like to add anything, please do.
