And they don't want to have many karts on a track. Compare:
OGP
Pit pass - $12 per driver/mechanic
Pit spot - $12 per trailer
Practice - $12 per kart (8-12 sessions per day)
Membership - not required
AMP/TSATL
Pit Pass -$?
Pit Spot - $?
Practice - $480 (based on 8 sessions)
Membership - ~$2000
I spend $200 in gas to go to Ocala, $100 hotel and food.
AMP is next door, ~$30 in gas, no hotel, $20 food.
Still cheaper to go to Florida, even if you have AMP membership or prices are listed for non-members. |

Well you guys sure are being tough on AMP. I have been to Ocala and it is a nice place, but give AMP a chance. It is a unique track, and they are just getting started. TS Racing is the shop there and they have been in this business for quite some time. Do they want you to buy their kart, yep, do you have to, nope. Barnesville and AMP tracks are not even in the same league. Barnesville is fun, but it is small, not suited for a high HP kart, and although it has been improved immensely since I started going there, it still could use some work. This place is new. If you don't want to join, that is fine, but I am a gear head and the chance to be a part of the club in Atlanta was a great opportunity. You spend WAY more that $2000 on parts, tires, entry fees, gas, motors, etc in a year on your karts. I am a member for life for that. Yep, it costs some every month, but it is a steal for the quality of facilities that will be there eventually. Don't knock someone else for what they have done. Let's go up and race and see what it is all about.. _________________ Michael Keats

I would rather rent CMP for $1200 a day and not have to worry about my kids traveling around blind turns with steep drop offs on the other side. Plus there is really no room to pit my 26 foot trailer any where near the grid. Not really in the mood to push 6 karts half a mile to the grid then go back and get my tools, fuel, and oil. Just saying. _________________ RobbieUT

Well the kart track officially opened yesterday and it was a success. They still have a lot of work to do, grass to grow, paddock to pave etc., but I must say the portion of the track we ran was incredible. There is no other place like it in the world. I was the first one on it with a shifter, and there are some places that are a blind, but I grew up racing at Road Atlanta, and several of the turns remind me of Road Atlanta, which is know widely as one of the best road racing circuits in America. We ran about 2/3 of the track as they had one section set up for concession kart rentals, but it was very fun to drive, quick and challenging. I talked with the guys at TS and they are fully committed to making it work. They are aware of the short comings of the track as it is now, and are working hard to make it a great place to practice and race. They hope to have large events in the future, but know that they need to get the space and set up the logistics of the race weekend. I am really looking forward to racing there, and I think it is going to be a blast. It was smooth as silk and very fun. I hope to see you all out there soon. I believe racing begins Nov. 10, so keep an eye on the website, www.tsracingatlanta.com. _________________ Michael Keats

Some of my indoor buddies were there yesterday, also. It looks like a nice track, and not as bad in blind spots as what I figured it would have been. However, it frustrates me that they are almost oblivious to the fact that GA is a clone farm, and are running only two cycle. _________________ Xander Clements, Driver of the #36 Razor Chassis Kart in Clone Junior 2
