2013 GSKA
Tire Treatment Rule
There will be absolutely no treatment of tires allowed on the track premises during any GSKA sponsored event. Any liquid (chemical) applied to tires in an effort to soften the tire and provide better grip is considered tire treatment. Tire warmers are also considered tire treatment and are not allowed. Disqualification for the event is the consequences for violation of this rule at the track on race day.
The GSKA will be implementing a testing program to analyze the effectiveness of our existing hydrocarbon sniffer to be used to accurately, and fairly detect the presence of chemicals that enhance the tire performance. WKA has agreed to assist us with this testing program by allowing us to compare the reading of our hydrocarbon sniffer with readings from the $5800.00 tool that WKA uses to test for tire prep. Data will be gathered during this testing time and procedures written to use the GSKA 's hydrocarbon tester for detecting tire prep at WKA Divisional events. WKA will be using their extremely accurate gage to test during the Gold Cup events. GSKA strongly discourages the use of tire prep.
GSKA would like to notify those that plan to run in the Gold Cup National event of the following: If you are going to mount new (non-prepped) tires on wheels that have had prepped tires on them, please remove the valve stems, clean the wheels very well, install new valve stems and then mount the new tires. _________________ Bob Barthelemy
