Glad to see, looks as though Carter and I will be putting together a kart. Using my Invader, my rear tires, my clutch, his motor and his front tires. Then we just need to figure out how to share in the races. _________________ John

Can't say that I'm happy about this. I thought we went to the Bridgestones instead of open tire to conform to the WKA rule. Now this?
Disappointing that the guys racing in the class weren't asked for input first...or maybe I didn't get the memo. The power/weight ratio is one of main reasons these things are fun to race.
I fully understand that some of the larger guys want to compete. However, I think a much better solution would have been to keep the WKA class, and add a "heavy" class, as was done for the Clone racers. That would be consistent. Both classes could run together, but be scored separately, until such time as kart counts justified separate races.
I hope the Board will reconsider. |

I think Bill is right, with that extra weight we are going to slow down the racing with out reason.
Also I hope the Board will reconsider |

The demographic that has shown the most interest in the class more closely fits the WKA masters class. By setting the weight at 360 we align with both WKA Yamaha Masters and WKA Yamaha Supercan heavy. The board felt that in the long run the weight increase will mean more Yamahas for you guys to race with.
When we announced the class last year, we were very upfront that the weight may be increased based on participants and interest shown. _________________ Darrin Tebbe |

The only policing I've done the past week is busting some doughnuts getting up early...
Why? Should I have policed it?

Being new to the club I am not sure how much this weight change will affect lap times. If we start lapping close to clone lap times (and could be my rookie driving style too!) then maybe we should encourage TAG for heavier weights. I put my rotax kart together for $1900 with close to zero $ maintenance, and would be a great alternative if the weight requirement becomes an issue for some. Aside from the flying Skaggs brothers, this level of investment is quite competitive. Looking forward to this weekend! Brian

| no it wasnt bad, i was just curious why the weights had been changed after the season started.. not that that bothers me since it will be to my benefit once i get out there this year. with my computer wisdom i probably just didnt push submit lol. are you looking at changing anything else on the class before i finish putting stuff together? |
