$20 Wal Mart black steel toed work showes: your friend, "Cheap Bering" c
ps: I question the use of "automotive" driving shoes. Karters do not need "flame protection" but more impact/abrasion protection, more like motorcycle racing. Shoes should be padded and cover the ankle. Same for jacket and pants: abraision proof and padded.
It bothered me to see people in "gym shoes" at Roebling this past weekend. A fast "exit"from the kart could cause lots of injuries theat could keep you from work, or worse! And most of us have to work to support our karting habit.....c _________________ "kart racing since 1958, was and still the best bank for the buck in motorsports" |

I dont worry about impact protection but more a thin sole for better pedal feel, which is why most people use racing shoes, karting boots are the same as auto boots just minus the nomex...

My concern is with unprotected bones (ankles/elbows/hips/shoulders etc) against hard surfaces (pavement/steel parts of the kart)
The risk is not as high at Barnesville because of the lower speeds, but I was really concerned thiis past weekend in the vintage kart enduros on Reobling Road's bigger track (2 miles) and long straight: some were wearing "gym shoes" c _________________ "kart racing since 1958, was and still the best bank for the buck in motorsports" |

| I'd always use the highest top boots with double closures. Sliding on asphalt at 60 mph plus will literally knock your shoes off. |
