The weather could not be better. 78, clear blue, high pressure, light breeze - I may stay ! Simon talked with Jamie Mcmurray while he was working on his kart and they wished each other good luck. Fun day all the way around.

Simon raced four practice sessions today. Yamaha Sportsman has somewhere around 40 karts !! We started the day 10 seconds off the track record, 5 seconds off the leaders and ended somewhere around 2 seconds off the leaders. The track is great and a lot of fun. Simon got use to racing that many karts that fast and is looking pretty good for his first WKA race - the kids racing are really good but he is holding his own. Wish us luck, the final is on Tuesday - we will let you know.

off to eat Mexican with Carter, John, Steven, Simon, Sandelin.......... Will report back tomorrow.

Jeff

Ps, watching the road race karts go around the Daytona Oval is Awesome.

That is great, glad to see your first trip to a WKA National event has gone well, that is what happens when you plan ahead, and show up prepared to race, not work on everything you own.
I knew Simon would pick up the pace, if you concentrated on just one class.
Now if dad doesn't get a case of the nerves Tuesday, it will be a great experience.

RS

Jeff was kind enough to send a few pictures of Simon, but I do not know how to put in the post, so if you would like to check out Simon's Daytona ride click on link below. As a note Raceway Motorsports designed and provided the kart graphics as well as the sweatshirts.

Good luck today Simon. We will be rooting for you.

Jeff, let me know if you decided to put in the softer axle and if it helped.

Looks like Simon did not make it. They just started Final race and his name was not in a list.
I'm sure it was a great experience but they need to do something about their program. Younger kids are not making enough laps in that level. Michael also stuck in LCQ two years ago in Jacksonville and last year in Daytona. This year might have been different but I don't like WKA's format anyway.
