I am looking forward to a fun year racing with everyone. If anyone has any thoughts on the 2009 season, please send them my way.

I am excited about the growth of the junior ranks. The yamaha is on the up swing with 5 junior sportsman racers already with a couple more possible. The Yamaha Supercan is also still growing.

The rotax classes also look to be strong with 5 racing in minimax!

I have not heard as much from the cadet crowd but looks like at least 4 or 5 again.

I would love to see a bunch of kid karts this year.

Let me know your thought / wishes for next year. I would also like to hear you thoughts on combining classes.

If you are going to race Jr. 2 cycle post below with the class or classes you are planning on running.

Thanks

Jeff Sikes - 2 cycle jr. director

Jesse could run Cadet, but I'd prefer to run Yamaha Jr Sportsman this year.

Personally, I'd like to see the Jr. 2-Cycle classes reduced in number to three total.

Kid Kart, 8-12, and 12-whatever senior starts at.

Reducing the number of classes would reduce the number of races run, reduce the cost burden of trophies to the club and eliminate combining classes in the Jr 2-cycle races.

I realize that this is nearly impossible for 2009, but should be something we are working toward for 2010 until we have enough young drivers to require additional classes. Simply allowing multiple engine configurations in each class (excluding Kid Kart of course) would be an easy first step in that direction without instantly obsoleting one package or another. As the parents become more competitive with each other, a natural migration to one engine package or another (as is happening with the clones in 4 cycle) would occur and in time the class could be hardened to the single engine package chosen by families in the class. In the meantime, those who are participating just for fun or as a noncompetitive family activity would be able to do so without being forced into a different engine package.

Submitted respectfully as an opinion,
Dale

The Yamaha Jr engine on a cadet chassis would be a sweet ride. The cadet chassis is just so much easier to prep for an 8-10 year old, but the K80 is not my favorite.

Yes a cadet chassis would be a lot easier but we would not be standardized with WKA. For simplicity sake sticking with the WKA rules is the way to go.

I agree, but you have to admit that would be a nice combo! Very Happy
