And then we got outspent at the end......

We chased setup for the first half of the night and then the real racers drove us to to the top of the timesheet.

It was awesome! Steven Schlenke, Louie DeJoseph, Kevin French and Patrick French drove the last 4 stints and made the professionals look like amatuers.

Patrick French set the 4th fastest lap of the race on his way to the lead. We were in first with less than 10 minutes to go. Nobody was passing him on track and yet he started moving backwards on the timing and scoring. We had the number one kart / team but not the number one checkbook. We wound up sixth once the big spenders broke out their wallets.

I want to thank Steven Schlenke for stepping in and taking over my last stint after Terry Borcheller tried to kill me for passing him Smile . Steven ran great laps and set us up for the run to the front.

We also had moral support from Carter and Mike Pugh, thanks guys!

I hope the booth at the Petit does well. I wish I could take the time off work to be there with you. Hope to see you at the track on he 11th.

Matt

ps - I think I saw a HANS team - where was Metzger?

For those who aren't familiar with the Petit Petit, just mark your calendar for this time next year and plan on being there! It was a great time and the track is really fun....and all for a good cause.

I'm going to start booking sponsors for next year so we won't be out spent at the end again!!

Thanks for getting us involved in this Matt!

Kevin

Matt,

I hope your arm is ok. Thanks again for allowing Steven to jump in the seat. He was smiling the whole way home. Very Happy I learned last year that if you want to win the Petit Petit, you better have a lot of $$$ to spend but it is for a great cause. I look forward to seeing you on the 11th.

Hey Joshua
Here is some info.
Also you do not have to enter as a team.
You can make a donation and get some joy laps in .Also you need a shirt $20 you buy there. It is all for charity.
I got out there a couple of times and the track is very fast down the back stretch.Plus it is cool being out there with american lemans series drivers.

Good news, Daniel. I think I shamed Louie into coming to the race on Oct 11. He laid down some slow times right off the bat, I called him several effeminate names and described that he's forgotten how to drive, and he said he was in for the 11th. That's the plan so far, anyways.

The race was awesome. It's amazing how much easier it is to do well when you don't get black flagged on lap 4 for a missing gas cap and for laying down fuel on every left hander. Barring a few mishaps, our team kept the kart going straight and kept it on the track. There were several moments of man-made rain on the track (one which Kevin either did some beautiful driving or lucked into squeezing between a spun driver and the wall), and we made a few mistakes, but overall, we probably completed more laps than anyone out there (actual laps, not purchased). Definitely, GSKA held their own.

Count me in again next year.

Sucks I missed the race! I dont work for HANS so thats why I wasnt there.

But keeps my streak alive of never getting passed there in 3 races!

Also I didnt have to almost punch ALMS drivers for being morons(Mr. Pumpelly) or get fuel spilled all over me on track (thanks Patrick!) or for getting black flagged 3-4 times a race.

Pictures from last year's event are on motorsport.com under the 10/3/07 Road Atlanta ALMS event. The same photographer was there last night so I'm sure they'll have this year's pictures up after the Petit completes.

Here's the direct link to last year's pictures:

Here's Louie D in action in the GSKA primary kart #22 from last year:

Chuck Weaver and Palmer Adams were driving the GSKA 2 entry #19 with my buddy Jeff:
