Do not claim this is the best way but it is how I break it in.
I use 5w20 Oil.
Get out on track and run slow then about half throttle slow then about half throttle slow then about half throttle for a few laps then bring it in to cool down.
Get back on track and run the same way but start bringing the rpm's up more and more for a few laps.
Bring back in and drop oil and put some more 5w20 in it and let cool down.
Get back on track and "Race some Heck"!!!!After about 30 or 40 laps change oil again.
Whenever your oil starts looking clean(non metalic look)change over to racing oil.Usually after around 2 to 4 or so oil changes.
I like "cool power lite". _________________ Rippin Racing

Conventional oil for a couple of sessions on the track. It's a lawn mower -
tiller engine how do you break them in? Low RPM doesn't require a lot of special attention. Put them under a load seats the moving parts quicker. Then run any type of conventional oil or synthetic kart oil you think is best. I even have stopped the oil changes after each race. Now I go 3 races and the oil is hardly discolored and there isn't any metallic flakes either. Can you say over kill on oil changes for this engine? This is a cheap class and cheap engine enjoy it.
My drag car uses methanol and it is changed after 40- 50 passes. It is stressed far more than this clone so everyone uses different intervals due to what they think is necessary. |
