The new owner of the track, Mr. Brian Kim asked to have a meeting with the GSKA board to discuss his future plans for the track. We had the meeting last night with Mr. Kim and Chardo and in attendance were myself, John Wehrheim, Bob Lefferdo and Micheal Jackson. Even though he does not have unlimited resources, Mr. Kim is determined to improve and expand the track. Here are some of the items we discussed, somewhat in order of importance:
*Get power back to the track. This would include power to the tower and outlets for daily rental along the fences.
*Improve bathroom facilities, probably with high quality portables (air conditioned and lighted with running water) at first, with permanent ones down the road.
*Return the name of the track to "Lamar County Raceway"
*Try to market the track more.
*Try to add more karting events, i.e. super-regionals.
*Add to and improve fencing.
*Possible lighting for night races.
*Mr Kim would like to clear the back of his property to expand and improve parking.
*Once the back area is cleared, explore the possibility of expanding the track to a 1/2 mile or more.
*Mr Kim stated that any person or company that helps significantly would be eligible for either a long term or permanent billboard at the track, at no charge.

The GSKA has offered to help in any way possible to achieve these goals. I am putting the word out to the club to either help directly, or find people that can help. Here are some of the tasks that I think we can help with:
*An electrician to help wire the tower and grid areas.
*Someone with connections to lumber or pulp buyers to help defray the costs of clearing back area.
*Someone with heavy duty clearing equipment.
*People to go out and find ways of marketing the track and GSKA.
*Someone with paving connections? (RH)

Mr. Kim has a firm grasp on the historical significance of the track and seems more interested in bringing the track back to prominence than making a quick profit. Of course he wants to make money at it, but I feel he knows he needs to improve the track now to make a profit in the future.

And thanks to you and the members present, Jeff. I'm sure I speak for many when I say we really appreciate your passion for the club, the track, and the sport.

A 1/2 mile track . . . that sounds frickin' awesome. Very Happy

Sure hope it all takes place !! It would be fantastic to get the track back in shape.
And certainly hope to be much more involved next year in racing and care of the club and track.Sorry I've not been of any assistance this year !

the paving business is very slow right now, so when he's ready to pave, let me know and i'll try to get him a good deal. the sooner the better to get the best price. at times, there are crews sitting around doing nothing.
