The Future of kart motors

Chuck,
Although I think the KF motors will be coming to the US and will be adopted by several racing sanctioning bodies, I am not convinced this is the future of karting due to the price point. The price of karting is getting out of hand.

This is why classes like the clone class has been well accepted in a very short period of time. This is hard for me to say especially when I am a big proponent of 2 cycle. But you can not beat the price of a clone.

I was referring to top level racing. I don't think you will see the top teams in USA running China made Honda knock off motors. However at local clubs it may gain interest, but it has not in Florida. Actually 4t kart racing on sprint tracks in general has declined, just look at the FCS results. We have been experimenting with the SQ "Leopard" knock off and it is fast, much faster than the PRD Fireball, all for around $1500 complete, Jury is still out on durability compared to IAME's stuff.

The KF's will be selling in the 4k range thanks to the current Dollar to Euro, that is the only reason the prices are higher. However if you consider a TaG from a top builder will cost you 3500-3800 and maintenance of the non-counter balanced leopard a TaG could be more expensive to run than KF2.
