ihor, in my humble opinion as a newbie, with the birel, changes are noticeable whether it's faster or slower. from what i've learned, the kart is free, so the issue is tightening, which is easier than freeing up i'm told. i can make small changes and i know right away whether it's better. one advantage i might have, though, is that angus is extremely consistent so i can tell tenths very easy. _________________ 711 Angus Hunt's dad

If you want the chassis that has won every race except for one it has been in at Barnesville (bent sprocket)this year in Tag, Rotax, and Cadet then look no further... Not knocking the Birel for sure but there are other options that are more than competent...

| Bingo Jeff!! I remember watching Joey Hand "make" an Emmick do what he wanted it to do. A great driver can make a moderate kart look spectacular. I have just seen many newbies and club driver get fast and consistant quickly in Birels. |

I couldn;t resist chimming in on the great debate Plus the forum has been getting boring. LOL Here is the real story.
1. Not all chassis mfg and models are the same
2. Some chassis models are more suited for certain classes
3. Some chassis models are much easier to tune than others
4. Can you win on a so so chassis with a great driver. Maybe
5. Can you win on a so so chassis with a great tuner. Maybe
6. Can you win on a great chassis, great tuner and great driver. Most likely.
7. In a nutshell, do your homework. Don't believe everything you hear. Some have personal agenda's, some have limited experience and think they know more than what they do. Yes, even I can fall into this category, but try to stay very neutral.
So in my opinion if you want local support, your options are
1. Swiss Hutless Great Chassis (Jr and Sr)
2. Birel Great Chassis (Jr) (Sr is struggling a bit)
3. Tony Kart - Great Chassis (Jr and Sr)
4. CRG - Great Chassis, but a bit hard to tune in my opinion, but Great results (Sr) - Jr is Struggling
5. Sodi - Great Chassis(right model for Sr)
6. Top Kart - No shop, but local support Great Chassis (Jr. and Sr.)
7. Merlin - No shop or local support Great Chassis (Jr. and Sr.)
8. There are many other very good chassis', such as Margay (American Made) It really comes down to your class you plan on racing in and if a local shop is important.
In my opinion it is only helpful to buy from a local shop if:
1. They are willing to help you tune the chassis
2. If they are knowledgeable in their tuning ability
3. If they stock parts
4. You want to support the local shops
Ok, I am now waiting for the guys that don't like my comments (you know who you are) to chime in and tell me I am full of crap. But remember, I have tuned and my son has raced on 9 chassis in 12 years at a national and international level with very respectable results. Most with off brands. _________________ John

John, I'd say Chris Wehrheim's accomplishments are more than "respectable," but I realize you were, by association, being somewhat self-effacing.
And no love for my Sodi. That's OK--we deserve it. But we'll get there.
FWIW, Arrow is a great kart, and some of our best drivers are on them: Chris (WAS on one), Raymond, and Jason Mauney, as a karting rookie, turned a sub-23 in less than three months. BTK, the Arrow dealer, is somewhat close. _________________ Tonykart EVRR / Adkins Yamaha |

Daniel.
Thanks for catching Sodi. No intention on leaving Sodi out. I added Sodi into the list. The list could go on, but I was focusing more on local support or experience. Arrow is a very good chassis and is supported out of BTK in Decator, AL. _________________ John

get with a kart, get with a shop, get to the track. over and over and over.
what ever kart you get on will not be fast unless you get to the track repeatedly. the fast guy right now is brent and he is on the kart and a track somewhere 3 times as much as anybody in barnesville. angus is a close second and look at the results. great job angus (ritchie). |

Now Chuck I know there is NO way you are comparing an Emmick to a Swiss????? I wish Bailey or I were half as good behind the wheel as everyone thinks... But we will take the props..
Also,
I don't think Arscott could've dominated Rmax Nationals last year on an Emmick.. _________________ CMC ROTAX/SWISS HUTLESS
