I ran on that track back when it was still Tacket raceway, I raced a "C" open there and actualy got a concusion from banging around the monza , it was very rough , but a lot of fun. For the younger guys a "C" open is 2 engines of 135cc each unlimited on alcohol. I ran Komets back then I also ran punched out 100cc LMR engines.
just for some info I am getting back into karting after a 25 year absence , I was co-owner of Cape Vessy Motorsport Park in Canada where we held one of the first PKA races back in the early 80's . I also made many trips to Barnesville in the 70's and 80's to race in the WKA Winter Olympics .My son wants to start Karting so he will be in the briggs jr2 class and I will be running in the TAG class .
I have been at Barnesville for the last 2 races to watch and the way the races are run and the friendliness of the people there really impressed me.

Atlanta Motorsports Park's goal upon final zoning is to break ground Feb 2009.
Location is in Dawson County, not far from GA400 Outlets |

Original location had noise restrictions and something else.. |

I worked on the rezoning for a proposed Harley Davidson dealer about 5 yrs ago off 400, north of the outlets.
We had met with the city and it looked like a homerun.
At the public hearing, 25+ residents stood up and vocied their concerns about noise from motorcycles and the zoning was denied.
Hope this site works out better than that.
It would be a good idea talk with residents first and get them on board.
