I have asked very nice before but no one has stepped up to help with timing and scoring and the scales so now I need to be firm. Timing and Scoring will not start on the 20th unless we have someone in the tower to help Angela. Ginny tries to help as best as she can, but she cannot do Registration and help in the tower at the same time. We need someone who is not racing themselves, with karting knowledge, and some computer knowledge. That person will have to do manual backup of timing in case of a system breakdown and assist Angela to resolve any problems. This is a paying position. It will pay $50 for the day.

Another big problem for timing and scoring is changing the race schedule on race day. THERE WILL BE NO MORE CHANGES TO THE SCHEDULE ON RACE DAY!!!

We also need someone to operate the scales. This can be a racer who can pit right next to the scales. It will also pay $50 or one free race entry and one free pit pass.

Please let me know.

Jeff, I have made this suggestion in the past, and I will once again make the same one. The club is already paying for a race director, and I believe his duties include directing the races, what better place than from the tower, this way not only could the race director be in touch with what is going there would be someone there to oversee the scoring. I believe the club's money will be spent more wisely with this arangement.

Rick,

Even though that is a good suggestion, the Race Director needs to go to various places around the track from time to time. T&S is enough work where we need 2 people in the tower at all times.

What could be better than being stationed up high and see the whole track in the event a decision has to be made, either on the track or if there is a decision to be made involving any issue that arises during the course of a race day. It is probably a better place, than say, walking around in the pits, talking to the racers, or tuning on karts, etc...
Just trying to get the most of the club's money out of this position.

I am going to have to agree with Rick on that. The tower seems to be the perfect place for the Race Director - who ever that happens to be at the time. He can manage the races, the flag men, oversee the timing and can be easily found if needed by a racer.

You are probably right, the tower is a good place for the race director, but I am still insisting on a second, permanent T&S person.

Rick,
I have to disagree on one aspect on your suggestion. There have been numerous times where I had to be on the track to get the racers lined up and slowed down properly. You can not be two places at once. In addition, the race director needs to be mobile. Whether on the grid, start finish, scales, tower etc.

A lot of talk, but still no second timing person.
