I rode past this place this past weekend, and it still looked overgrown from the outside. The only sign of life was a small "Media Entry" sign beside a dirt driveway... Hopefully, they are renovating the inside 1st.
It is about 5-10 minutes south of I-16 on 441. Not terribly far from Atlanta. Maybe 2hrs from downtown.

OK, here's the scoop. The Dublin track is closed and is not being renovated. The new facility that is being planned will be in Danville, which is not too far from Dublin. They are planning a 1.25 mile paved oval and a 1.75 mile road course that will incorporate a kart track of undetermined length. After speaking with the person behind it, he stated that they were looking for help with track layout. He was very pleased to find that we had an active club in Georgia and I told him we will do everything we can to help him out. I am going to send him the CIK manual on kart track construction and set up a time to meet with him. He is hoping to be operational in the spring time. Here is his web site: http://www.georgiausaspeedway.com/GeorgiaUSA-page.php

You may want to fill out the contact page and just put that you are a GSKA member, but let's not bug him too much.

He gave me the impression that they are going to have the road course done first. I will try to clarify but I think he means 2010 for the "Grand Opening". If he was smart, he would have everything done and tested in 2009 so he can have a proper Grand Opening in 2010.

Jeff,
I think you stumbled on another "proposed" track. The track I'm referring to is completed other than the fencing around it for insurance regs., The insurance report has been completed and the track has passed. This track will be up and running as early as October 2008.

Here are some more quotes to my assoc. who scouted out the track:

"I have seen this track. It is race ready. He just has to put up the fencing (for insurance) . It needs nothing to run a track day."

"It's 1750 feet of twisty asphalt. Tight and technical, with little chance to rest. It's 26' wide in most places, 4 feet wider than Starke, I believe. Some of the corners are actually wider, making the track a multi line race track."

"There would be free over night camping, there are plenty of motels within 5-6 miles, and the track is easily accessible from I-16"

As soon as he divulges the exact local, Ill post it.
