When I raced with the SCCA, they had Enduro races with no timed stops and they were burning cars down and people were getting hurt. When they went to a mandatory 5 minute stop, the problem went away. Also, the teams with larger funds would have 5 guys working on the cars whereas the low buck teams would have their wife. So the timed stops leveled the playing field as well. But what do I know?

2-stops no time limit, than we dont have to rely on michael "bo duke" Jackson to try and see our numbers. what ever size gas tank.

I think the problem is with the timed stops , no one is debating the 2 manditory stops. If its safety that everyone is concerned about then throw a full course red for 2 minutes at the 20 minute and 40 minute mark of the enduro .

I think the lead pack would be pissed if the red flag grouped everyone back together.Seems more dangerous having 20 karts on pit road at the same time .

I personally do not see a problem with the stop the way it is written .
To me it looks like the safest way .
You come in ,you come to a complete stop and the 2 minutes starts .
You cant start rolling till 2 minutes is over .
It is easy to see when a kart stops and starts in the tower .Doesn't matter if it is running or not .
1 minute 50 seconds is 1/3 of a lap advantage .So ...2 minutes is 2 minutes.Any less is a stop and go penalty.
Joshua brought up a good point about if you only have 4 officials .If that is the case when there is 4 karts on pit road ,pit road is closed until 1 leaves. Can use a flag .red = closed green = open .No different than NASCAR.
Doesn't matter if you have a small tank or large , big crew or not .The 2 minutes would help even the playing field and help eliminate someone in a big hurry pouring gas all over the place.

Steve I will be taking Johns W. place. I'm not racing in the event. All I did was voice my opinion not intending to start any arguments. As for now the original rules first posted are still in place. If we do the timed pit stops I would like some volunteers to help with that. This is suppose to be a fun race and lets keep it that way. I'm not getting paid for my services so remember that when you come to protest my decision.

Excellent?
How about 1 more person to show that pit is closed?
How about few karts in need to pit because of fuel and can't do it lap after lap because pit is closed?
How about karts driving through the pit area full speed with kids and others around?

Ihor we will be using the oval for the pit stops. Crew members only will be allowed out there. Spectators should be on the normal pit side of the track.

maybe we need to mandate the speed for pit road... and ill answer the obvious question (how will we do this?). if someone looks like they are coming in too fast by the official in the booth or if the race official in the pits feel like they are coming in to fast then they will be forced to a pass through or stop in go.

Oval may not be big enough. Oval entrance need to be slowed down with cones so it will be even shorter place for pits. And if we use oval for pit, people there stuck for hour and must have all tools, gas, gears, etc. because leaving the oval will be dangerous.
If team will stay in oval for an hour, they will not know their position during the race. With regular pit we have plenty of space for karts and tools, we can have laptop with current position beside the tower for anybody to check.
With oval as a pit, having timed stop makes much less sense.

are they going to get their karts done and then be allowed to wait out the 2 mins at the pit exit or are they gunna be just mandated to stay in their pits for 2 mins and race out.... it think it will become a safety issue the latter way.

I think crew members in the middle of the track during a race is dangerous. How about using the regular pits? Very Happy
