I would like to first congratulate Ross "The Tornado" Smith (Carl's son) on a most exciting weekend of racing. Ross had two third place finishes at Ocala this past event. That may not sound like a big deal, but Ross raced to these finishes on a layout of this track he has never been on and by the end of the weekend was running respectable times. Ross finished behind only Jesse Seeley (who clinched the championship, with two races remaining) and a local kid who spends about every day at the track. On Saturday Ross ran second in the final for 8 of the 10 laps, for awhile we thought there was going to be a 1-2 sweep for the Birel drivers.
Although the Saturday event turned sour in tech, a little tire issue, Ross did not get to bring home the trophy, but the one from Sunday is awsome.
Next a big congratulations has to go out to Jesse and his dad Dale Seeley for winning the North Florida series, Jesse doesn't even have to race the next two events and still wins by a huge amount. I would like to personally thank the Seeley family for their support of Raceway Motorsports over the past year and for making our decision to add the Birel karts look like a smart one. Jesse proved he could win on either the CRG or Birel chassis and all the wins were equally impressive.
We will add some pictures to our web site when they become available.
Now on to the Rotax Nationals, and if anyone needs transportation I spoke to Nick Weil of Speedquest and he has space available, and a really nice motor coach, you can contact him at Speedquest.com.
