What does every one think about a clone class for kids. Leave the governor in the engine and set it at 4000 rpm. Use a spec gear on clutch and axel.
Thanks

That would be really neat to let the 8-12 year olds race with a clone. But I don't think we would need to leave the governor in because they are already speeding in the micromax and minimax. _________________ "Porkchop Racing"

in my opinion, the more classes for kids, the more diluted the races, the worse it is for karting. think about how great the racing would be now if all the 8-12 were racing in the same class? i'm glad it seems that the yamaha class is dying out. _________________ 711 Angus Hunt's dad

The Clone class for kids would be wise for the people with limited budgets and want to race 4 cycle. Clone is already becoming popular in the Junior 4 cycle class and definately in the Seniors. Not everyone has a min. of $3,000 to race. Clone provides a Junior to start racing for only $600 - $1,000.
I would be interested to know the time difference between the current Briggs Jr 1 and 2 Classes to a Governed Clone and a non-Governed Clone. I think if this is something to go with, a spec clutch and pipe should be instituted. Possibly even tires and rims or at least follow WKA rules for 4 cycle.
As to the Yamaha Jr Sportsman and Jr classes, they might be dying at our club, but not much at a national level. At the recent WKA Grand Nationals, 36 entries for Yamaha Jr Sportsman and 39 for Yamaha Jr. Granted these are down, but I believe this is due to prices of fuel and the economy. _________________ John

Joshua
If every 14/15 year old was like you, it would not be a problem at all.
But, if I had an 8 year old there is no way I would put him out there with the typical 15 year old

You would have to do a restrictor plate. No way the governor would work. Too easy to cheat, and no real way to tech it.

I believe there is a way to set the governor at 4000 rpm, run spec clutch, sprocket and header. I would be willing to supply an engine for someone to do the testing. Because I am in TN. I dont have the time to go to the tract for testing. If any one is insterated give me a call.
Thanks
