We would like to build the TAG classes back up. You can see from the "results" section here on the forum the kind of participation we had in the past. I look to rebuilding this exciting class..

Snowed in and bored in N GA

Dr chip last year in Tag you had 3 entries in 3 races, 2 entries in 3 races, 1 entry in 5 races and 0 entries in 3 races. In tag hvy. 1 race 7 entries, 1 race 2 entries, 7 races 1 entry and 5 races 0 entries. In 2013 Tag except for 1 race was nonexistent. Where are all the tags racing and why ?

The Frenchs had Arrow X2s, which leads me to believe that had done most of their TaG racing last year at Mooresville, GoPro Motorplex. Dev Gore has also raced up there and here on-and-off, in Rotax (TaG) and Yamaha Junior and Senior. These people along with some guys from AMP (Danny Kay, Matt Kern, John OBrien) put together our kart count for the night race.

The unfortunate side of this is, that our track isn't in between AMP and Mooresville - it's a drive for both. Our track is nice, but it won't be able to supply the intense racing that larger tracks at AMP, Mooresville, and Kershaw can for the TaG drivers. Our night race is something those tracks haven't hosted, only Mooresville has lights, which is what brought the TaG guys out.

I can't say exactly if that is the only reason they came out, although I do know that night race had no conflictions with either of the facilities those TaG guys regularly race at. All of my knowledge comes from the tower during commentary and talking to them in the pits at the races, so someone who might know some of the TaG drivers better might be able to help us see if it's possible to try and get them out here more often.

Angus has told me that the track isn't that much fun in a higher horsepower kart because it's so bumpy. That might be one reason for the lesser kart counts.

I raced Rotax for all or parts of five seasons, from 2008-2012. Drivers left for sundry reasons -- moved, ran out of money, decided to race at different tracks, went off to college, personal problems, lack of entries, etc. During the Rotax hey-day entries were evenly split between Masters and Seniors.

I've always stayed because, frankly, I could afford neither the time nor the expense of racing elsewhere. I finally sold my stuff when I was the only one left and the Yamaha class had 8-10 each race.

Little late to the party... but for whatever its worth I think combining light and heavy was the right call. No sense in splitting a 2-4 kart field.
