|

In an attempt to bring out new racers to the track, the GSKA has approved some new heavy weight classes. One twist to these rules is a MAXIMUM kart weight. This maximum weight will keep lighter drivers from adding large amounts of weight to their kart and spoiling the fun of us King Size racers. See below for details.
Clone Senior Sportsman Heavy:
400 pounds for kart and driver, maximum kart weight of 200 pounds.
Allow RLV header and muffler as used by Clone Heavy, refer to this post:
http://www.georgiasprintkarting.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5401
The intent of this rule is to allow the Clone Senior Sportsman Heavy to race for the same points as the Clone Senior Sportsman, and will not be run as a separate class. A performance or weight adjustment may be implemented, if deemed necessary, if lap times are significantly different between the two groups.
All other rules the same as Clone Senior Sportsman
Yamaha Senior Heavy:
400 pounds for kart and driver, maximum kart weight of 200 pounds.
All other rules the same as Yamaha Senior.
TaG Heavy:
Cheetah SQ 125 – 390 lbs., Easykart IAME & BMB – 390 lbs., Morori Seven – 405 lbs, Parilla Leopard – 405 lbs., Parilla X-30 – 405 lbs., Rotax FR 125 – 405 lbs., Sonik TX 125 (125cc) – 425 lbs., Sonik VX 125 (118 cc) – 405 lbs.,, Vortex ROK TT – 425, PRD Fire Ball (2005 & 2008) 390 lbs.
Maximum kart weight 200 pounds
All other rules the same for TaG.
All classes would be run with their lighter class. _________________ Jeff Bacon

| let me seee if this is clear it states that sportman heavy and the sportman man classes will be running for the same points.that means we all will be running to together and scored as one class / or running together and scored as two different classes. that would put the new drivers out there with experience drivers. And i thought we still was going to have a class for the people that are not fast enough to run with fast guys speed different;safety, inexperience drivers and so on. |

The Clone Sportsman class is designed for the entry level driver. We have just added a heavy formula to allow heavier drivers to be competitive. The Clone Senior class is still considered the "Pro" class at our track. It is unusual to combine two different weight classes, but the 4 cycle experts in our club assure me that they will be close in times. As it is now, a 200 pound plus driver is at a disadvantage. _________________ Jeff Bacon

..and note that the added Sportsman Heavy class allows the larger pipe and muffler. This is to help offset the weight difference. This pipe/muffler combo is worth up to .5 seconds a lap faster on under normal circumstances compared to the wienie pipe/small muffler allowed for the standard Sportsman 360 weight class.
As Jeff says, some adjustments may have to be made, but this allows the heavier guys to again be competitive. We have lost several people in the class because they just felt that they were at a weight disadvantage. A heavy driver is not necessarily an inexperienced driver. Perhaps a driver that has been too well fed! |

Is the Med. class still going to be the same or has it changed. Just trying to see what weight I will need to set up for.

No there will only be a Heavy in 2013. |
I understood that we would have medium clone if we had 3 or more racers, per Jeff's post..c _________________ "kart racing since 1958, was and still the best bank for the buck in motorsports" |

We only had 2 races last year with more than 1 Clone Medium so it was voted to drop the class. That being said, if we can get at least 3 guys to commit to that class then it could be reinstated. _________________ Jeff Bacon
