In a recent AJC article, a few of Atlanta's "dignitaries" were asked about their favorite holiday gift as a child. Here's what Mayor Reed had to say:
"My dad bought me a real racing go-kart for Christmas one year. I was in either 7th or 8th grade. The go-kart went like 60 miles per hour. I loved it, but my mother was just furious. My dad set up a racing track in the backyard. As soon as you cranked it up, it took off. It was incredible to ride. It was low to the ground and fast. I remember that sometimes my older brother, Tracy, would take it from me and drive it to his girlfriend's house."
