|
|
My grandson and I are going to start racing and I am looking at karts for him first and I need to know what clone engines are with in rules. I will start my kart after I get his going. I used to race in the WKA back in the early 1980,s, and a lot has changed.
Thanks, Mike |

Mike,
Welcome to GSKA! 6.5hp/196cc motors are legal for the Clone classes. Most people are buying the yellow motors which are available through Roberts Kart Shop or the blue motors from Harbor Freight. The yellow are better quality and Steve Roberts provides awesome support on and off the track.
Also, what is the age of your grandson? _________________ John

Thank you for the quick reply,
My grandson will be 6 yrs old in Sept. What clone engine would fit his Kid/Kart class. I think your suggestion on the yellow clone engine for me is the route I am going to take. I would like to find a used Kart/chassis for my grandson and me. I would be interesed in a turn key or chassis.
Thanks again,
Mike Bickers |

Hey Mike
I welcome you to the GSKA as well. At age 6 he would be in the Kid Clone class. The clone engine will take you from age 5-105. The kid clone class requires a silver restrictor plate and a small pipe. As John mentioned Roberts kart shop is very active at our track has all parts in stock and will steer you in the right direction.

Please feel free to come to our next event and mingle. Everyone at our track is very willing to give advice and answer your questions. _________________ Rippin Racing

Thanks, Mike
I plan on coming down for the next race 7/31/10. My grandson lives in Thomaston right next door to ya. I have a lot of family members that live in Thomaston.
See you at the track,
