Please review results page, click on different scoring system and post here all concerns and suggestions for scoring system for next year. Less drops, more drops, WKA type of scoring, more gap between 1st and second, etc.
I can easily add new scoring and we can check 2008 final standings with it.

I personally like the points system we have been using, except that I think that winning should be worth at least 5 points over 2nd place. 3 points really isn't enough between 1st and 2nd, IMHO.

what if we ran it based on how many drivers we had. 10 to 1st, 9 to 2nd, 8 to 3rd and so on. (you can adjust based on field length) and the winner gets 5 extra points? i know this isnt nascar but this is becoming a common interests points system with them and maybe we can copy.

Points for first place doesn't matter so lets say it will be 100 to simplify percentages.
We have couple of parameters to play with:

1. Distance to second (percentage)
Currently we have 3 points, which is ~ 12%. Lets put it at 15% (15 points)

2. Distance from second to third (percentage)
Currently we have 2 points, which is ~ 8%. Lets put it at 10% (10 points)

3. Distance from third+ to next (percentage)
Currently we have 1 point (4%) - 5 points

4. Points for lat place.
This is important. We need some points which are within 50% of points for first in case DNF happened to a fast driver and he/she looses championship. So Formula1 system where only first 8 gets points is not acceptable.

I will create this scoring system for testing:
100,85,75,70,67,65,63,61,59,57,55,54,53,52,51,50

ops, I did something... can't see dynamic scoring ...

If you finish last you certainly shouldn't get 50% of the points of winning. We have 3 drops for that stuff.

How about progressive points?.......

(e.a)
Hardship causes a racer to start from the rear of the field
the racer makes 2 passes/earns 2points plus finishing position
points?
Racers get points for leading a lap/leading the most laps?
This might cause more dedication and/or allow racers to work around
unforeseen/unchangeble commitments without falling out of the hunt for
a championship! Possibly answer the race drop debate

JUST AN IDEA
