I am losing tons of speed in the turns. I just can't get through them fast.

I am trying to figure out what is wrong.

Can someone please help me.

Thanks

P.S. You can even drive the kart on Sat. if you want to see what I'm talking about.

There can be numerous reasons, but they will come down to:

*Chassis setup - The only way to help on this is I need to understand what is the chassis doing in the corner - entry, mid and exit. Is the kart understeering or oversteering.
*Driver - Based on what I saw when we were practicing. I think you just weren't carrying enough speed through the corner. This could be due to chassis, or both.

Just my opinion, but one of the critical things that will make you fast is carrying your speed mid corner and exit so it carries you down the straight. But if you chassis is too lose or too tight you will not be able to accomplish this.

I try to go fast through the turn, but I can't because my kart doesn't want to.

I have no clue whats wrong with it. Sad

What would be best is for someone take it out and see what they think. Wink

Joshua,
Quit asking your kart what it wants to do.. Set it up and MAKE it do what you want.. That is a much better and more meaningful relationship..
Maybe get someone much faster than you to drive your kart and tell you what they feel..

John, I tried to help Joshua out a few weekends ago, and from what I can see, his kart is REALLY tight. It won't turn in, and the back grabs from mid 1/3 of the corner to exit. I didn't have enough experience with the 4 stroke chassis to help him much... the kart doesn't have nearly the obvious adjustments one of the newer 2 stroke chassis has. Hopefully, this will get someone with some more knowledge to offer a couple of suggestions.

If his entry understeer is that significant, maybe he should move his seat forward, no?

Have you ever scaled out your kart Joshua???
I bet you need more front end %.
I noticed this past race that your rear tires were pulled all the way out.
I also noticed this past weekend your seat was mounted real high.
I like to get the bottom of my seat level with the bottom of the frame rails.
(lower the center of gravity).
Will you get to the track early this weekend???

If your problem has started with your new seat, this comes to no surprise. The ribtech is stiffer and provides more side bite than the fiberglass seat you had before.
1. Move seat forward - front weight distribution should be around 43 - 44%
2. Lower bottom of seat 1/4" below the frame rail
3. Lay the back of the seat down. It is hard to tell you how much without seeing the seat and kart, but if I had to take a guess, 7" from top of seat to top of the axle.

Other things
1.Go to wider rear rims to stiffen the side wall
2. Increase rear tire pressure. I believe you are running YHC's. I would try around 20lbs.
