Jeff, make sure you practice on Sunday. On a race day you will get 1 morning practice, 3 laps qualification and based on it you either qualified for main event and run 7-8 laps heat and 9-10 feature or just 5-6 laps LCQ.
We didn't practice there and didn't make main event both days,.. so much money and time for so little track time. I said to never go to Man Cup again No-no . My WKA membership expired and I didn't renew it.
Track is narrow with no room to pass. But this is big event with Road Racing at the same time - memorable experience .

I wish I could race there.

Is it just two cycles?

Thanks Ihor, I have heard the same things. Wish they were running 103rd street.

Richie, I have never been to the sprint track but I have not heard too much good about it - narrow, sand every where but it is racing in December at Daytona!! There will be a lot of karts in each class and some good racing. We are going to run Yamaha and maybe Cadet.

Joshua, get a Yamaha and come on down!

The MFG Cup is a great series. True you do not get as much track time as a Rotax National or a Stars National, but there are other very positives. Typically you will get 4 practice sessions on practice day and the mains are 12 laps.

There are a solid 3 places to pass and the track is not narrow. The Cadet and Yamaha Jr Sportsman classes are the toughest in the country. You had better be on your game in race craft, driving and chassis tuning. If you want to see how you stack up, go to the event. You typically have 40 - 50 entries in each one of these two classes. With the economy, this may not be true this year.

Sure, you absolutely need practice.

I'm talking from our personal experience. Michael was holding Dore Chaponick for few laps before Dore landed on his rear bumper sending both off the track. When karts are similar speed you can pass only on error. It was train of karts in order they qualified, both days... and for most classes. So you have to qualify good in 3 laps. With little to no previous experience, it is really hard to do.

Daytona at Christmas. Very Happy Man I miss those days, I am telling you Jeff those were the best times of my youth. Opening gifts on Christmas morning, eating lunch, then loading up and driving down. There is not a Christmas that goes by that I don’t wish I was leaving after lunch, difference now is Dad is not here to foot the bill. Laughing

Good luck,
