got talking yesterday and found out that there is a real interest in VINTAGE karts, and some already have Vintage karts We want to expand out market, like we did with clones.

How about expanding VINTAGE? Fun to show the "old school" suff: the history of where our sport came from.

Found some old West Bend engines cheap. OR use clones on Vintage as well?

I am planning building a CHEAP vintage kart as a winter project for our 2nd Barnesville Vintage Winter National is March, 09. cb

Not really an expansion. There is a vintage class in our club rules. Just need the karts to show up and they have a class.

Vintage Karts
Refer to VKA rule book

Here is a link if you want to check out the latest vintage karting event.
Vintage karting is special to some of us older karters, and it can be equally special to younger karters as well.
Enjoy these pictures.

I ran mine in 2006 with the club. Never could get anyone else to show up so they let me run with the flatheads with no minimum weight limit. The spoted me around 35 lbs. I had a 99cc Mac and it was fun with newer chassis against my 68 Dart. My power against there newer chassis. Biggest problem I encountered was parts breakage and lack of availabilty. Price for Vintage parts has gone thru the roof. Also so many different types of engines makes it hard to compete regularly. VKA who we use as a guideline works best and you also have the early rear engine karts up against the sidewinders dry clutch verses wet clutch pipe verses can. It can be done but finding the karts locally is the problem. Biggest obstacle is most of the drivers are now my age and no longer compete.
