the good: brings more people to the awareness of karting and makes it more accessble to others to race closer to home
the bad: takes away competition from other tracks and if it isnt so successful then it was all for nothing

Visited the old 441 Speedway in Dublin on the way home from Ga. Southern. The track and facilities are all in reasonably good shape. It has a concession stand and decent tower. Everything of value has been vandalized, but the asphalt is in good shape and still has all the lighting towers. If someone living that direction had the wherewithal, that track could be rescued. Also depends if the locals will let it reopen.

Another thought: if it isn't going to be re-opened, there are a good amount of lights around the track. Maybe could be purchased to re-light Barnesville. I will look into the status of the track.

Here is the contact info for the Dublin track, It may only be available for bikes but if anyone wants to call to see if karts could have a shot on the track call the Herrin's. Track is now available for practice. Call 478-290-0975.

This is also known as "market forces." If a businessman has a product, he darn well better be able to sell it. if not, he hasn't done his homework.

The lesson learned from all the new tracks in Florida is this: more tracks mean more racers. More racers mean more tracks. If more tracks don't open in Georgia, karting will stagnate. In current form, Barnesville will be hard pressed to handle much more than 100 racers per event. With 5 million plus in Metro Atlanta, there are more than 100 potential karters here. Bring on more tracks!

if GSKA is to become what the name really means which an association is a grouping of things then we need to have a grouping of tracks. 3 tracks that had points weekends. like Barnesville, this Dublin, track and maybe one on I-85. then the tracks rotated points dates. we need to be recruiting these dirt track racers to sprint karting though
